Eric Gerges

Eric Gerges is a Professional Senior Environmental Engineer, with over 25 years of specialised project management experience, particularly on former industrial and petrochemical sites that have being made suitable for redevelopment for more sensitive land uses, including residential and recreational open space.‍

Eric has considerable contamination assessment and contaminated site management capabilities having directed a large number of projects in NSW and other parts of Australia.  Many of these involved the development and implementation of integrated site remediation action plans to enable continued current uses, or site closure with regulatory and/or EPA-accredited Site Auditor approval.

Dr Vagner Jorden

Dr Jorden is an entrepreneur and multi-disciplinary engineer founder of numerous companies across a range of industries including technology, property development and agribusiness with a number intellectual properties (patents) been granted in these areas.

Dr Jorden is currently head of EI Australia and its group of companies. He is a professional Environmental and Civil Engineer, with more than 30 years of specialised experience in providing engineering and science solutions across Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia.

Dr Jorden is a long-standing, integral member of EI Australia’s senior management team offering staff mentorship and project management capabilities on the full range of projects.

Graeme Deaker

Graeme has over 40 years’ experience in the field of structural engineering, domestically and internationally, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Oman, Russia, Uganda and Vietnam. He has experience across all major industry sectors including, airports, commercial, education, industrial, recreation, residential, medical and retail.

Graeme brings knowledge and applies his experience to every project working closely with clients to understand their requirements and identify value adding opportunities.

Graeme incorporates his experience to ensure buildability and improved design solutions throughout every project.

Tony Guirguis

Tony Guirguis has over 15 years of specialised engineering, contaminated land management and project experience. With a solid background in land and property development, Tony has strong capabilities and a proven track record for successful project management in this diverse field and has directed a wide range of projects, including assessment and remediation of contaminated sites, dewatering management during construction and project specific technical advice.

By focussing on understanding client needs, Tony continually refines his approach to complex projects towards a high standard of value engineering, resulting in significant time and cost savings.

Tony’s breadth of experience has enabled him to acquire strong capabilities for successful communication with various stakeholders including project consultants, contractors, EPA-accredited contaminated land auditors, and local and state government authorities.

Senior Principal - Contaminated Land

Malcolm Dale

Malcolm has extensive contaminated land management (CLM) experience with project and team management, delivery of client expectations and outcomes, project direction and technical excellence to wide ranging CLM and remediation services in a competitive consulting environment. Coupled with strong built environment experience (geotechnical engineering, construction, land development) and consulting skills in many areas of earth and environmental sciences, Malcolm’s project experience covers infrastructure & urban development, government, oil industry, mining, transport, energy and utilities. A constructive and collaborative team leadership style with the ability to liaise with regulators, contractors and all levels of management and consulting staff, Malcolm was previously seconded to Defence as an in-house advisor and is a certified site contamination specialist.

Other expertise includes risk and hazard assessment, emerging contaminants, asbestos in soils, acid sulfate soils, local and international acceptance criteria and legislation, investigation and sampling design and complex remediation. Previous experience includes urban capability studies, mining geology, geotechnical hazard mapping and geotechnical investigations for foundations, slope stability and tunnels in Australia and Hong Kong.

Operation Manager  - Principal Environmental Scientist

Greg Brickle

Greg has more than 35 years’ experience in industrial, environmental, project management and business management activities and more than 25 years’ experience providing environmental consulting services to government and industrial clients and in managing environmental consulting businesses.

Greg's environmental management experience includes project management, waste management, contaminated land assessment and clean-up, project design, technology development, compliance auditing, OHS and EMS management and community liaison. Greg has managed the assessment and remediation of industrial sites, manufacturing sites and petroleum industry facilities. Greg has managed environmental risk and compliance audits and due diligence surveillance of manufacturing sites, property portfolios and buildings for industrial, corporate and government clients throughout Australia.

Principal Environmental - Hydrogeologist

Nik Kontos

With over 30 years of experience in the assessment and remediation of contaminated land, Nik has been involved in CLM projects on a range of sites. He has directed projects on petroleum refineries, asbestos-affected land and industrial facilities affected by various contaminant types, often involving complex site remediation for continued current use, or redevelopment for more sensitive land uses.

Nik has extensive experience in the design and implementation of surface water and groundwater monitoring programs both in Australia and overseas and has demonstrated skills in risk communication with a variety of stakeholders in relation to residual contamination and the potential risks posed by it. He regularly provides training and mentoring of junior CLM staff and has been an executive committee member of the ACLCA NSW since 2016.

Principal structural engineer

Bala Kularatnam

Bala has over 25 years’ experience in Asian and Australian markets in the structural design of medium to large commercial, industrial and residential projects. He started his career in Sri Lanka as a site engineer, before relocating to Singapore and then to Australia.

Bala has been in Australia for 15 years, working successfully in the structural design of industrial, commercial & residential projects in Sydney. He is familiar with design software RAPT, Micostran, Space Gass, wallap and in-house software etc. Bala has strong knowledge of reinforced, post-tensioning and steel structural design.

Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Mike Leung

With over twenty-four years of contribution within the geotechnical field and civil engineering in general, Mike Leung has a proven track record in project management and delivering geotechnical services for major infrastructure projects for a diverse range of market sectors including defence, road and rail, mining and water. An established career serving in a multi-national consulting enterprise for over a decade and a number of boutique consultancies over the years.

Mike Leung is well versed with leading significant site investigation campaigns and driving projects with multi-disciplinary teams. Having been embedded client-side in secondment assignments within a government entity as part of a consulting career, Mike Leung understands client expectations and is passionate in developing strong stakeholder relationships and engagement.

Associate Director – Civil Engineering

Hasan Javied Rana

A PMP certified, Fellow Chartered Civil Engineer with master's degree in management & environmental engineering. Hasan has more than 18 years of hands-on experience in civil stormwater design, design development, project management & infrastructure planning for multiple projects in construction industry. Hasan has worked in infrastructure, land subdivision, institutional, healthcare, industrial, commercial and mixed-use development projects with council integration on brownfield and green field developments.

Hasan's key strengths are team leadership, conflict resolution, program management with sound problem solving and organizational skills. He has done work on more than 500 projects ranging from $1.2 million to $164 million in value.

Hasan believes in project success via effective communication and stakeholder management. This is mastered by managing multiple projects from feasibility to handover.

senior Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Warwick Davies

Warwick’s career has embraced civil and geotechnical engineering and engineering geology in excess of 45 years, starting as a civil engineer in the NSW Department of Railways, progressing through ‘hands-on’ practical experience in railways, roads and transportation projects, and the residential and building development industries within New South Wales and Victoria.

Warwick’s special interest and capability in the field of landslide investigation, remediation and risk management is supported by internationally published technical papers, and as co-author of the AGS Landslide Risk Management Guidelines 2007. Since early 1990’s, Warwick has actively contributed to the development of landslide risk assessment (LRA) practice and ‘on the ground’ application and training of landslide practitioners.

Warwick actively participates as an expert geotechnical engineer, advising for projects as an independent reviewer and verifier, and assisting legal matters as an Expert Witness in all levels of Court processes in NSW and Queensland.

Warwick continues in providing practical professional civil engineering and geotechnical experience and training for the EI Group, combining with new areas of investigation and knowledge, and mentoring of younger professional engineers.

Principal environmental Engineer

Pedro Balbachevsky

Pedro is a CEnvP-SC with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and MSc in Chemical Engineering -Industrial Processes. He has been designing, building and operating remediation systems for contaminated soil, groundwater and vapours since 2002. 

Pedro has worked with a variety of challenging contaminants, clients and remediation technologies, including destruction and separation of PFAS from soil and groundwater and the first use of horizontal wells in Australia for In Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO)purposes. He is an active member of the consulting community, having presented in numerous conferences in Australia, New Zealand and the USA
